Theodore Roosevelt thanks author and publisher Frank A. Munsey for his editorial urging Roosevelt to openly announce that should he be nominated for President, he would accept. However, Roosevelt feels he must spell out why he feels it would not be “wise or proper” for him to do so at this time. He feels saying anything just adds to more speculation and he does not seek any nomination but will not make a statement that would “tie his hands” in the future. This copy was enclosed with a letter to Edward Sanford Martin.
