Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Lawrence F. Abbott

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Lawrence F. Abbott

President Roosevelt thanks Lawrence F. Abbott for sending him proofs of the articles that he has written. He will send Abbott two more articles to review. Roosevelt would appreciate if the offices of The Outlook would handle his mail while he is on safari in Africa, as he does not wish to answer letters while he is there. Roosevelt is glad that Abbott likes what he wrote about Delavan Smith, William MacKay Laffan, “and company,” and comments on the strangeness of journalism and colleges of journalism.

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Theodore Roosevelt

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Theodore Roosevelt

President Roosevelt would like his son Ted to use the best ankle support possible, perhaps even putting the ankle in plaster for a few weeks. Harvard did better against Yale then expected but “lack of proper coaching” and fumbles lost them the game. If Ted is ready for a good history of the American Revolution, President Roosevelt could lend his copy of Sir George Otto Trevelyan’s book.

Letter from Endicott Peabody to Theodore Roosevelt

Letter from Endicott Peabody to Theodore Roosevelt

Endicott Peabody, headmaster of Groton School, writes to President Roosevelt, regarding Kermit and Hall’s absence for Alice Roosevelt’s wedding. It is the school’s policy to not allow students to leave for cousins’ weddings as they are so frequent. However, because Hall was orphaned and very close to the Theodore Roosevelt family, Peabody believes it appropriate. Peabody also discusses cheating allegations of Harvard and Yale football teams.

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Martha Bulloch Roosevelt

Theodore Roosevelt will spend Thanksgiving with the family but will have to leave Friday morning due to exams. He has been in good health and only felt a little homesick during an illness. Roosevelt traveled to New Haven, Connecticut to watch the football team. Harvard lost as Yale “played very foul.” He is glad he is not a Yale freshman due to the hazing and the “scrubby” look of the students.
