Based on President Roosevelt’s .45-70 rifle, the Winchester Repeating Arms Company has prepared the Model ’95 rifle with the same trigger pull. They are still waiting on the “extra thickness silver” recoil pads to finish the work on the stocks of the Model ’95 rifle. For smaller game, the 1886 .45-70 rifle is sufficient.

The Winchester Repeating Arms Company has the model ’96 gun, belonging to Kermit Roosevelt. President Roosevelt’s Springfield rifle has already been returned to him. The Company is also working on finding the best shipping line from London to Mombasa; they will not ship the guns through Aden as was requested earlier because they have no agents they trust there. They will await Roosevelt’s reply in regard to the model ’95 rifle.

Some of the men on the train also inquired how many towns Crombie has “shot up.” Crombie has not shot any towns up, but he did kill a deer last Sunday. Crombie used to live in Dickinson, North Dakota, and knows many of Roosevelt’s friends, including John Winfield Goodall.
