President Roosevelt requests that the Winchester Repeating Arms Company have the guns he is taking to Africa oiled and prepared for shipment. These will include three .405 Winchesters, a Winchester carrying Springfield ammunition, a Springfield, a double-barreled Holland, and a Mannlicher. He would also like to know if the additional ammunition has been sent out.

Letter from William Loeb to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company

President Roosevelt wants to know when the ammunition arrives in Mombasa. He has the leather cases that belong to the Holland and Mannlicher guns and only needs the tin cases. Roosevelt’s name should also be put on the ammunition and gun cases in large red letters. He will sail on the Hamburg-American Line steamer Hamburg on March 23.

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company

President Roosevelt sends the Mannlicher gun to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. He also sends a Fox double-barreled shotgun, and asks that both guns have cases and cleaning materials. He would like to know if the first shipment of cartridges has arrived in Mombasa. The Company should have a representative aboard the ship to turn the guns over to him in person and to show him where the cartridges have been stowed.
