Herbert David Croly has been thinking over Theodore Roosevelt’s suggestion, which touched him deeply. He does not know whether he will accept, but he will constantly consider the best way to tell Roosevelt’s story and bring out the value of Roosevelt’s career. He wants Roosevelt to send him a copy of the Revue Nationale and wishes Roosevelt’s opponents would read Roosevelt’s early work to understand what a “Hamiltonian democrat” Roosevelt is.

Dr. Louis Edelman thanks Theodore Roosevelt for his recent article inThe Outlook entitled “Conservation of Womanhood and Childhood.” Edelman shares his own experience with children working in the local mill, one as young as six years old who worked twelve hours each night for twelve cents. Edelman states children are being eaten up by the industrial mills in the South, but society wants the mills so they are not going away.

French Ensor Chadwick thanks Theodore Roosevelt for his kind letter and hopes Roosevelt might be able to write anything about the Spanish American War. Chadwick plans to send Roosevelt an updated copy of his book because he made some alterations and additions in response to a review from the New York Times which commented on Winfield Scott Schley. Chadwick says it is thanks to Roosevelt and the court, the Navy’s standards of conduct have been upheld, which is the most important thing.
