He discusses the railroad situation and the requests for him to speak on the matter but reiterates that he would be repeating what already has been said. In a postscript, Roosevelt updates his son on the grounds and how the trees and flowers are blossoming.

President Roosevelt tells his son Kermit about how his trip through the southern states has gone thus far. Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt and a cousin, John S. Elliott, accompanied Roosevelt as far as Atlanta, and had a lovely time. They also visited the childhood home of Roosevelt’s mother, Martha Bulloch Roosevelt. Roosevelt, now accompanied by John Campbell Greenway and John Avery McIlhenny, believes that the next part of the trip will be hard work going forward.

Letter from Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt to Henry Pinckney

Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt asks White House steward Henry Pinckney to send an updated inventory of the amounts of cigars and liquors present in the White House to Captain William S. Cowles so that he can purchase some replacements and make sure everything is stocked. She informs Pinckney of some of the family’s travel plans between Sagamore Hill and the White House, and offers to send him a photograph of her son, Quentin Roosevelt, and his, Roswell N. Pinckney together.

Letter from Bernard Shandon Rodey to Theodore Roosevelt

Bernard Shandon Rodey tells Theodore Roosevelt that he just received a large amount of mail, as navigation just opened back up. Minnie Codington Rodey told Rodey that she regretted only being able to send cards and flowers to Roosevelt’s family when they visited Albuquerque, New Mexico. Rodey’s wife is living in a small house with her mother, as her mother is unwell.
