Theodore Roosevelt informs Robert Harry Munro Ferguson and his wife Isabella Greenway King that Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt was thrown off her horse last week and was unconscious for 24 hours. Now she is slowly improving, and Ethel Derby Roosevelt has been devoted to her care.

President Roosevelt was glad to hear from Robert Harry Munro Ferguson and Isabella Ferguson, and tells them that his children Kermit Roosevelt and Ethel Roosevelt both enjoyed seeing them. Roosevelt has no objection to Ferguson’s older brother, Ronald Craufurd Munro Ferguson speaking with American ambassador Whitelaw Reid, and says that “there are some ticklish things coming up in connection with the Newfoundland fisheries, and there is always the possibility of its being really important to have a good man here.”

Kermit Roosevelt describes his current assignment and activities in Iraq. He has joined the Light Armored Motor Battery Service and primarily performs reconnaissance. There are many Scots in his battery. Belle and Kim Roosevelt are doing well. Kermit continues to travel with a book, now rather tattered, that was given to him by Martha Ferguson.

Kermit Roosevelt is in New York with Ethel and Richard Derby. He has plans to stay at Sagamore Hill soon. Roosevelt will be attending one of the camps in Plattsburg, New York, and his family will be going abroad in the fall. Belle Roosevelt is still recovering and their son, Kim, is also having some health issues. The planning for Kim’s christening is underway.

Kermit Roosevelt sends Christmas greetings and hopes they might spend a Christmas together soon. He outlines his family’s plans for where they would like to live and work in the future. Argentina is on the “right side” regarding attitudes towards the war and Roosevelt would be enlisting if he were not married.

Kermit Roosevelt describes life in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with Belle Roosevelt; including Belle’s driving habits, their servants, and home life. He is pleased that Theodore Roosevelt won the libel suit. Kermit intends to enlist if the United States enters the war.

Kermit Roosevelt describes his job duties on the railroad. He recently became an inspector of traffic. The forest is lovely and Roosevelt has been very interested in the butterflies and birds.

Kermit Roosevelt was sorry to hear about Mrs. Luttrell. He is en route to South America and his boss, who is also aboard, is very nice. Roosevelt will be back for a holiday in about two years.

Kermit Roosevelt has accepted a new job with the Southern Brazil Railway Company. He is excited for the opportunity and will be leaving in a week or two.

Kermit Roosevelt has a new job opportunity with a railroad company in Brazil. He will be leaving in July. Theodore Roosevelt is doing well and is leaving for Chicago, Illinois, and the Republican National Convention.

Kermit Roosevelt has reached Yuma, Arizona, and made arrangements with a former Rough Rider for a hunting trip. He has been surprised at the high temperatures. Roosevelt enjoyed seeing the Fergusons.

He jokes about Martha Ferguson catching skunks and feels he may qualify as a second-assistant skunk catcher. Roosevelt recently visited Edmund Heller and Edgar Alexander Mearns at the Smithsonian Institution to watch them work on bird and rodent specimens.

Theodore Roosevelt has been very happy and the family is receiving a huge amount of mail.
