Kermit Roosevelt enjoyed visiting the Fergusons at Saranac Lake. The photographs he took turned out well. Theodore Roosevelt and Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt have left Washington, D.C., and returned to Oyster Bay, New York. Theodore Roosevelt has been very happy and the family is receiving a huge amount of mail.

President Roosevelt and Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt will be coming back to Oyster Bay, New York, from Washington, D.C., soon. He asks about the outcome of a consultation with Mr. Regan and whether the Fergusons have purchased a house at Mount Kisco. The date for prize day has been set and Roosevelt has decided it is time to write to Captain Bulloch.

Kermit Roosevelt describes playing with Martha and Robert Munro Ferguson in New York. He wishes Robert Harry Munro Ferguson and Isabella Ferguson could have come along on the last Mayflower trip. Roosevelt practiced his photography while on board. He asks when he should arrive at Saranac Lake.

President Roosevelt was pleased to hear that Kermit and Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt are enjoying the company of the Fergusons. He gives permission for Ronald Craufurd Munro Ferguson to speak to Whitelaw Reid, perhaps about an appointment in Washington, D.C., as he goes on to say there are some “ticklish things” coming up regarding the Newfoundland fisheries, and it may be important to have “a good man here.”

Theodore Roosevelt recounts his visit to see Ethel Roosevelt Derby and her children. It was a great comfort in their time of sorrow after Quentin Roosevelt’s death. Roosevelt’s sons have done well as soldiers and he would not have had them act otherwise.

Theodore Roosevelt thanks the Fergusons for remembering his silver wedding anniversary. They celebrated alone with some Madeira brought over by Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt’s grandfather in 1816. Kermit was impressed with Robert Harry Munro Ferguson’s letter.
