Emlen Roosevelt requests the help of “the secret agents of the government” in tracking down the history of Gertrude Beverly Motley. Motley has placed a large claim on the estate of Cornelius Roosevelt and Emlen believes that Motley was Cornelius’ mistress. She lived abroad in Paris for some time and Emlen Roosevelt wants President Roosevelt to look into her past life.
