Laura Visser-Maessen describes her trip to Oyster Bay, Hyde Park, and New York, New York in June 2005 in connection with her winning the Theodore Roosevelt American History Award for her work as a Dutch student of American history. Visser-Maessen describes her visits to Sagamore Hill and the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace as well as her trip to Hyde Park to see sites connected with Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt.
