Cartoon shows a wedding party made up of a hefty President Hoover as the bride and a small shabby “Tax Payer” as the groom. With them are the bride’s family, including Mr. Dry (symbol of Prohibition) and two course and unattractive fat men, labeled “High Tariff” and “Handling of R.F.C. Loans.” Suggests that a vote for Hoover for reelection in 1932 means embracing a continuation of Prohibition, high tariffs, and questionable handouts by the Reconstruction Finance Corporation to American companies, as well.
Caption, lined through, at bottom of picture reads: “‘When you marry you do not merely marry your wife but her family as well.’ Col. Roosevelt from Manila.” The quote is attributed to Theodore Roosevelt Jr., then Governor General of the Philippines.
