President Roosevelt informs Arthur von Briesen, the President of the Legal Aid Society, that he will accept the vice-presidency of the Society because they do “invaluable work.” Roosevelt has followed their work since he was Police Commissioner and says “you right wrongs for the very people who of all others most need to have their wrongs righted…”.
