President Roosevelt does not recall actively opposing the movement to secure the big park while serving as New York Chairman of the Legislative Committee on Cities, as Samuel Parsons and William Rudolph O’Donovan claim. He requests they send the facts of his opposition. While he is devoted to parks, he has opposed certain park plans due to the inclusion of real estate speculation or a lack of federal funds.
