Wickersham is using a stick labeled “Sherman Law” to beat a toy labeled “Monopoly” on the table in front of him. The toy shows a wealthy businessman holding money bags sitting in a bowl. Hanging on the wall is a “Sectional View” of the toy showing that it is weighted at the bottom with “High Protection,” stating “The Reason Why” it does not stay down when Wickersham hits it.

Transcript of a letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Eleanor Butler Roosevelt

This typed copy of a letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Eleanor Butler Roosevelt was included in a scrapbook. The letter describes a visit from a count bearing letters from the German embassy shortly after the outbreak of World War I. A note at the bottom of the scrapbook page stated that former president Roosevelt told this story to Eleanor, and she asked him to dictate it to his secretary. Instead, he wrote it out longhand himself.
