Theodore Roosevelt addresses the relationship of employer and employee, and how it has changed with the rise of the corporation and of the labor union. Corporations and their owners and managers have begun to recognize a responsibility to their workers, both as regards their working conditions and their sharing in the fruits of their labor. Roosevelt advocates a model not of “master and man” but of “brotherhood and partnership in service and in toil.”
