President Roosevelt asks Ted Roosevelt to keep him updated on his job, and says the papers will soon give up discussing him. The enclosed letter to Ted, with its offer of a job selling cravats to students in Madison, Wisconsin, is delightful and amusing. Although Roosevelt’s leg has been mostly keeping him inside, he has been too busy to go out much anyway.

Paul V. Collins hopes to visit Theodore Roosevelt in New York sometime in the fall or winter. He will be speaking at the State Grange meeting at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota, and at the First National Conference on Social Center Development with the Extension Division of the University of Wisconsin. He doesn’t believe that the current administration realizes how Northwestern farmers are feeling and mentions that papers are not discussing the issue. He did recently read a related article in the Minneapolis Tribune.

Letter from Secretary of Theodore Roosevelt to Clara Brandt

Theodore Roosevelt’s secretary tells Clara Brandt that he explained to Roosevelt the reason for her call, but he passes on his regrets that he is unable to help. He recommends writing to Wisconsin Governor Chase S. Osborn, as Osborn “is doing excellent work in that State and….if there is anything wrong regarding the carrying of the institution you mention that he would have an inquiry made and the whole thing put right.”

Letter from Herman Geschke to William H. Taft

Herman Geschke sends a rambling, profane letter to William H. Taft accusing him, Theodore Roosevelt, and Robert M. La Follette of conspiring to murder him to conceal his “six year wrongful impressment.” According to the letter, Geschke was warned by the Madison, Wisconsin, chief of police not to send Taft more letters full of “insanity,” but Geschke was not arrested as threatened.
