President Roosevelt compliments General Black on his “admirable” answer to General Wilmon Whilldin Blackmar and thanks him for his touching statement on Roosevelt’s letter of acceptance. Roosevelt was also amused by John W. Vrooman’s speech that Black enclosed.

Douglas Robinson, President Roosevelt’s brother-in-law, looks forward to his and Edith’s visit and deeply appreciates them coming. He lays out travel plans and the day’s itinerary leading to the program at the library. Robinson has said nothing about Roosevelt’s attendance at the event.

Admiral George Dewey and his wife Mildred Dewey recently visited Herkimer, New York, and were entertained by John W. Vrooman and his wife, Ann Vrooman. Both Deweys expressed pleasure at the greeting they received in town and the surrounding scenery. This article additionally contains a brief biography of Dewey, and recounts his actions in the Spanish-American War.
