Theodore Roosevelt thanks John C. Doxsee for his campaign donation intended to “help split the State of Vermont.” Roosevelt has searched for the enclosures from Doxsee’s previous letter, but it seems they were lost in Chicago. Frank Harper has explained Doxsee’s plan to Roosevelt. While Roosevelt appreciates the offer, he must decline due to overwhelming work.

Letter from Secretary of Theodore Roosevelt to Marshall J. Hapgood

On behalf of Theodore Roosevelt, his secretary confirms receipt of the letter by Marshall J. Hapgood and congratulates the families of the twelve babies born in Hapgood’s town. He did not receive the clippings Hapgood wanted Roosevelt to return, although he applauds his “very worthy action in opening accounts in the Savings Bank for the twelve babies.”
