Charles J. Bonaparte writes to President Roosevelt about a number of topics. He encloses a letter from an unnamed person and returns a letter from Lincoln Steffens. Bonaparte also discusses giving a speech in place of Senator Henry Cabot Lodge who was sick. He also mentions how anxious some politicians were about the election on September 6, 1904. Bonaparte was relieved that he no longer had to write an article in light of the Wagaman failure. (Catholic University’s Treasurer, Thomas E. Wagaman, invested and lost $850,000 of the institution’s money.)
