Charles R. Parmele introduces himself to Theodore Roosevelt as a friend of Daniel Delehanty, Montague Lessler, and E.C. Benedict. He also met Roosevelt in Washington, D.C., when he was working on passage of the Pure Food and Drug Law. Parmele claims that he has important information about Harvey Washington Wiley and the Pure Food and Drug Act. According to Parmele, no one else in the field is willing to speak honestly on this subject. He asks to speak with Roosevelt in person to give him this information.

A statement authored by William T. Hornaday criticizes the Sulzer bill which would allow for the sale of moose, caribou, and white mountain sheep meat in Northern Alaska. Hornaday reports that he and several prominent game conservation associations were shocked to discover that the legal sale of big game in Alaska had been occurring for some time.

Butler indicates that he will rally support for Roosevelt through his influential connections.

In the context of President Jimmy Carter’s work negotiating a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, William C. Sexton reviews President Theodore Roosevelt’s mediation of the Russo-Japanese War in 1905 and argues that Roosevelt’s actions set the table for future presidents to act as peacemakers. He looks at Roosevelt’s actions during the negotiations, reviews some of his administration’s other accomplishments, and says that advances in technology like those pioneered by the Wright brothers added to America’s power and prestige.
