President Roosevelt sends a message to Senator McCumber, chairman of the Senate Committee on Pensions, in order to call particular attention to the cases of the widows and children of Jesse William Lazear and James Carroll. These men were doctors on the yellow fever commission, and Roosevelt hopes that the pensions can be provided to their families.

Senator Du Pont sends Theodore Roosevelt his statement supporting the pension bill for Annie Gray Hawkins. The Senate Committee on Pensions did not consider the bill as Hawkins’s income is more than the maximum established by the Committee. Du Pont had his statement printed and referred to the Committee for review.

George Gray showed Senator Du Pont Theodore Roosevelt’s letter regarding the bill increasing the pension of General Hamilton Hawkins’s wife, Annie Gray Hawkins. Du Pont would be grateful to have Roosevelt provide the suggested statement of Hawkins’s service during the Spanish-American War.
