President Roosevelt sends his thoughts on the present movement towards building playgrounds in American cities to the Washington Playground Association through Cuno Hugo Rudolph. Roosevelt believes that play is important to the physical welfare of children, especially after most have been barred from employment.

G. A. Parker, President of the Canadian Amateur Football Association, invites Theodore Roosevelt to attend an upcoming game between the Corinthians, which Parker manages, and a team of New York players. Roosevelt was previously invited to view a game while he was president, but was unable to attend–Parker promises that if he is now able to come to the game, he will see a great match between the two teams.

Knowing of Theodore Roosevelt’s interest in football, Edgar Pomeroy sends him copies of several letters that might interest him. Pomeroy also corrects a statement of David Starr Jordan, clarifying that rugby was introduced into England much earlier than soccer.

Ambassador Griscom writes for the State Department’s records a short account of Secretary of State Root’s stay in Brazil. Griscom details those who took the voyage with Root, the dinners Root attended and gave, the dignitaries he met, and the cities he visited. Griscom will collect the speeches Root made during his Brazilian trip and transmit them to the department as soon as they are available.
