Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to J. H. Patterson

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to J. H. Patterson

President Roosevelt thanks J. H. Patterson for the letter, saying that it told him exactly what he wanted to know. Roosevelt is very excited about his upcoming safari in Africa, and says he will follow Patterson’s advice to make his main trip British East Africa, and describes his plans there. Much of his hunting will be done for the Smithsonian Institution, with whom he is partnering for the trip, although he would like to take two or three trophies for his own use, if it is permitted. Roosevelt would be very glad if Patterson would be able to visit him at the White House before he leaves office, and describes a visit he had with some other people.

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Jonathan Bourne

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Jonathan Bourne

President Roosevelt was interested in the letters that Senator Bourne sent, and is proud of Anne Mills Archbold Saunderson’s hunting prowess. He recently received a letter from Colonel J. H. Patterson, with whom she has been hunting, and who wrote that “she was delightful in every way and is plucky enough to tackle a trust king.” This amused Roosevelt, as she is the daughter of John D. Archbold, who is involved with trusts.

Letter from J. H. Patterson to Theodore Roosevelt

J. H. Patterson, who has been hunting big game in Africa, just received President Roosevelt’s letter and was delighted with it. He is glad Roosevelt liked The Man-Eaters of Tsavo. He gives a description of his recent hunting trip with an Englishman and his American wife, and hopes that when Roosevelt is no longer president he will have a chance to hunt in Africa.
