This article says that the Holiday Inn of Lake George, New York decided to rename its renovated restaurant in honor of Theodore Roosevelt. It says that the owners of the restaurant recognized the importance of the area to Roosevelt as he traveled through this region of the Adirondack Mountains on his way to Buffalo, New York following the assassination of President William McKinley. The restaurant features three dining rooms with Roosevelt related themes.

Fifty-Sixth Annual T.R.A. Meeting

The fifty-sixth annual meeting of the Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) recently took place at the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site on October 27, 1975. The article notes some of the attendees and describes in detail the reports given by the leadership of the TRA, including those of the Executive Director, President, Vice-President and Treasurer. Topics covered in these reports include the plan to revitalize the East Twentieth Street neighborhood where the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace is located, the reissue of Roosevelt’s biography of Gouverneur Morris, the production of video cassette tapes and films documenting various aspects of Roosevelt’s life and work, and an announcement of the winner of the first TRA Essay Prize contest. Executive Director Gable notes the increase in both membership and contribution to the TRA since 1974.

Executive Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) John A. Gable reviews the different publications of the Association that have preceded the Theodore Roosevelt Association Journal. He critiques the movie The Wind and the Lion and argues that it “is a work of fantasy.” He closes with a review of the contents of the last two issues of the TRA Journal and reminds readers that the TRA needs an infusion of new members and dues to continue its work.

T. R Collection at Harvard: A Report

Wallace Finley Dailey provides a brief history of the Theodore Roosevelt Collection at Harvard University, noting the collection’s beginnings as an effort of the Roosevelt Memorial Association and initially housed at the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace in New York City. He highlights those who have cared for the collection as well as historians who have made use of its resources in their published works. Harvard is currently constructing a new library on its campus, which will allow the collection to be housed in a modern setting.
