He mentions visits from Major Potts and Captain Tommy Hitchcock, who took Roosevelt up in a plane. He adds that General Leonard Wood complains about the lack of supplies for the drafted men.

Theodore Roosevelt writes his son Kermit and daughter-in-law Belle to say he sent letters to Arthur Hamilton Lee and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Lloyd George regarding a commission for Kermit in the British military in Mesopotamia. He also says that Ted and Archie Roosevelt sailed for Europe today and Ethel’s husband Richard Derby is eager to go as well. Quentin will be leaving next month.

He also updates him on Mother and Archie Roosevelt and about an editorial he wrote on the Bulgarians. He criticizes President William Howard Taft’s handling of affairs in Mexico.

He says he is glad Kermit enjoys his new work and will be leaving soon to visit him and talks of visiting him in Sao Paulo and other areas of South America as well.

Roosevelt adds he has three books finished and ready to be published.

Theodore Roosevelt writes to his son Kermit from his Western speaking trip to say how much the family are enjoying themselves, though he cannot stand all the speaking and this is the last speaking trip he will take. He encloses letters from safari agency owner Leslie J. Tarlton and Alfred E. Pease. Roosevelt is concerned at how sick Tarlton and his partner V. M. Newland were and he wants Kermit to write to Tarlton.
