In a postscript, Roosevelt believes it would be better for Roosevelt Jr. to stay at a hospital for a few days following the operation.

He is disappointed that he did not see William’s son, George Emlen Roosevelt, at Harvard, but notes that he did not see much of his son, Theodore, either.
