Theodore Roosevelt’s secretary explains that Theodore Roosevelt cannot answer questions like the one Walter Littlefield posed. Littlefield asked Roosevelt to list the four greatest poets in the world, and if he did so, it might “cause annoyance to admirers of other poets and result in a lot of needless and purposeless discussion.”
