President Roosevelt tells his sister, Anna Roosevelt Cowles, that he thinks that Henry Cabot Lodge did very well at the Republican National Convention, and that he is pleased with the result. Roosevelt is already looking forward to his safari in Africa, and says that he does not want it to just be a vacation, but hopes to be able to contribute scientific specimens to museums.

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Anna Roosevelt Cowles

President Roosevelt is pleased with the results of the convention and with how Henry Cabot Lodge performed; however, he is already looking forward to his trip to Africa once he leaves office. Consistent with his approach to life in general, Roosevelt does not want to simply go along for the ride. Rather, he wants it to be a scientific trip. His sons are back in Washington, and Theodore Roosevelt Jr. is happy to be out of school and working.

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Anna Roosevelt Cowles

Theodore Roosevelt describes his trip with Edith Roosevelt, on which he saw Douglas Robinson. He was most impressed with the beauty of the Canadian Rockies and was well received in Canada.
