H. “Hal” Donahey of the Cleveland Plain Dealer was one of the best political cartoonists America ever produced, and this cartoon illustrates some of the reasons: his singular ability to meld a grasp of the news and basic realities behind the headlines, clever caricatures, advocacy that could persuade or dissuade, and when a necessary mode, employ humor to convey his commentaries.
