The photo negatives of the report on the proposed establishment of Theodore Roosevelt National Park contains a wide variety of information ranging from history on the region to a description of natural resources. The report details Theodore Roosevelt, the petrified forest, and the itinerary of an examination team (which includes a senatorial committee). Report also contains a supplemental report compiled by the United States Department of Agriculture that focuses on cataloging natural resources within the proposed boundary of the park. In addition, several memorandums are included summarizing the reports’ information and conclusions.

The goal of the field investigation is to determine the value of the badlands and Killdeer Mountains for national park or national monument status. The report includes information on the area’s cultural and natural history and scientific demographic information. Report concludes that there is enough value for a national monument to be created with at least 750,000 acres.

Theodore Roosevelt writes to Andrew Carnegie, saying he would like to visit the petrified forest in Arizona but his schedule is full. He also says he believes Al Stevenson to be the one-armed man featured in General Wood’s stories.

H. W. Dubois reminds Theodore Roosevelt that they were previously introduced through their mutual friend John Avery McIlhenny. Dubois is writing to inform Roosevelt of the discovery of a petrified forest in Adamana, Arizona, which Roosevelt may wish to see.
