“Succeed? Of Course We Shall Succeed!”

“Succeed? Of Course We Shall Succeed!”

In a short speech, a speech excerpt, and a paragraph, Theodore Roosevelt addresses his hopes for the future and the topics of happiness and patriotism. In an address to Spanish-American War veterans, Roosevelt refers to the United States as a “giant” and he expresses his belief that the nation will overcome the many challenges it faces. In a 1911 speech, Roosevelt says that people will gain happiness if they overcome their difficulties and obstacles and not shirk them. Roosevelt also says that patriotism means to support one’s country, and that patriotism may require criticizing the president.
