Roosevelt also mentions how hard Baldwin worked in Maryland and how that work directly effected the Party’s victory during the state’s primaries.

Senator Platt mentions to President Roosevelt the “collapse” of the Republican Organization of Erie County in the recent election. Platt believes Fred Greiner, postmaster of Buffalo, is best equipped to take control of the organization and hopes that Roosevelt does not object to Greiner being used in this capacity.

Senator Platt is “surprised and somewhat disturbed” by President Roosevelt’s letter of November 23, 1904, concerning the chairmanship of the Erie County Republican Committee. Platt feels that Roosevelt is deserting him “right at the crisis of affairs here when I have the situation well in hand.” Platt favors William Olcott while Roosevelt suggests a “high class man” along the likes of Mr. Parsons or Mr. Davis.
