President Roosevelt thanks Mary Eliza Avery McIlhenny for the hand-knit cravat, which pleased both him and Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt. He plans to wear it for his birthday. Roosevelt says that it is a pleasure to see John and Anita McIlhenny in Washington, and notes that John is very helpful to him in his work. He hopes to see Mary before he leaves office.
