William Loeb encloses a note from the managing editor of the New York Tribune, James Martin, and a clipping of an article by A. Maurice Low. Loeb writes that he has arranged what will be Low’s last interview with President Roosevelt due to the nature of the articles Low has been writing.

President Roosevelt is concerned by Helen Martin’s letter. It is unlikely that before the end of the term there will be an open position to which he can appoint her husband, James Martin, and he has decided that he will not speak to President-elect William H. Taft about appointments. He asks for suggestions as to where he could place Martin.

President Roosevelt received John E. McBeth’s letter from James Martin of the New York Tribune. He did not show it to Archibald B. Roosevelt as he feels excess attention is not good for “small boys.” However, Roosevelt thoroughly enjoyed it and sends his regards to McBeth’s son.
