Letter from Harvey T. Andrews to George W. Whitehead
Following George W. Whitehead’s advice, Harvey T. Andrews explains the facts surrounding a campaign donation of $25 from Edwin S. Lorsch. Lorsch’s name came up at a meeting of Republicans because of his belief in sound money and support of the current administration, and Andrews was selected as the man to talk to him. It later developed that Andrews accidentally met with the wrong Lorsch, and should have instead met with Lorsch’s uncle, Albert Lorsch. Because of this mistake, Andrews concluded it was wise to return the $25.
