Senator Beveridge answers President Roosevelt’s letter regarding a successor to Internal Revenue Commissioner John Watson Yerkes. Beveridge had hoped for someone from his own state of Indiana, but acknowledges that Roosevelt has a better man from Kentucky. Beveridge adds in a handwritten postscript that Lieutenant Governor Hugh T. Miller is to be the next governor.

Theodore Roosevelt hopes the enclosed suits W. Robert Foran. He is disappointed that William F. S. Edwards was not appointed Lieutenant Governor of Uganda. Roosevelt feels that Edward L. Sanderson and his wife, Helen M. Sanderson, will do better with a school in England than Nairobi. Kermit Roosevelt had two successful hunts.

Letter from Horace White to Theodore Roosevelt

New York Lieutenant Governor-Elect White tells President Roosevelt that he will take his role and the work it entails seriously. In particular, he is interested in work on the barge canal and good roads development, which he believes have been mismanaged. White and his wife would like to visit Roosevelt and his wife in Washington at the beginning of the new year. He celebrates the result of the election, and believes that many in the New York state Republican organization deserve praise for their roles.
