The following summer he expects to have the ranch sufficiently set up so that “girls could be really comfortable.” He shot some antelope and is going to devote more time in the coming weeks to writing his book, Thomas Hart Benton.

President Roosevelt asks W. D. Brown to congratulate the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association and to wish them luck at their convention. The government has been working to build on the rural free delivery system and the carriers have helped to lessen rural isolation.

Theodore Roosevelt has sent William Austin Wadsworth’s note to Archie. Mrs. Roosevelt has a grandchild visiting, as Ethel and Dick are in Paris. Roosevelt wishes it were possible for him to get up to see Wadsworth, but he fears, “a cob is about the type of animal I am now good for.” Roosevelt has never seen such a political mix up as at present.

Roosevelt has been told that the Vice President should not make speeches at fairs. He is not yet ready to violate this convention and would like several senators informed of his position.
