Letter from Theodore Andrea Cook to Theodore Roosevelt

British critic Theodore Andrea Cook forwards two books on the Olympic Games to President Roosevelt. He “was obliged to publish the facts” about the controversial 400-meter race. Unless Americans forget certain incidents, Cook warns that American athletes will not be welcomed at British tracks. Cook apologizes for any perceived rudeness to the American contingency and assures Roosevelt of his and his colleagues’ respect.

The Harvard House originally belonged to the parents of John Harvard, the founder of Harvard University. The effort to purchase it for the university and restore it was led by Marie Corelli and funded by Edward Morris. A number of dignitaries and academics spoke at the ceremonies.

Harvard crew to row Cambridge in England

Arrangements for a crew competition between Harvard and Cambridge University have nearly been finalized. Frank L. Higginson and R. C. Lehmann have had the duties of representing Harvard’s interests in England, as both have previously been associated with the university. The race will be run purely for fun and for the sport of it, and will not be for any sort of international collegiate championship.
