Letter from William H. Cooke to Theodore Roosevelt

Letter from William H. Cooke to Theodore Roosevelt

William H. Cooke, secretary of the Wichita Council of the Order of United Commercial Travelers of America, was very surprised by Theodore Roosevelt’s reply to a prior letter, and seeks to clarify the wish of the organization for Roosevelt to visit Wichita, Kansas. While he acknowledges Roosevelt’s inability to include the city on his upcoming western trip, such an inclusion was only a suggestion, and he asks Roosevelt to name a date which works better for him.

Letter from John F. Lacey to Theodore Roosevelt

Letter from John F. Lacey to Theodore Roosevelt

Political affairs are very unpleasant in Iowa, but they all “stand pat” on President Roosevelt. Congressman Lacey has just returned from a hurried trip to the Roswell New Mexican Irrigation Field and the Wichita Game Refuge. The one problem with introducing a buffalo herd in the Wichita Game Refuge is the danger of Texas ticks. Lacey believes that Madison Grant and William T. Hornaday should consult with President Roosevelt before the animals are sent in.
