Myron H. Wilson, General Manager of Clinton Point Stone Company, writes Hans Rude Jacobsen regarding payment received for delivering stone to Theodore Roosevelt’s construction site. Jacobsen deducted $157.99 from the total billed by Clinton Point Stone Company and Wilson explains why this deduction is not warranted. Wilson does not want collect the money through legal means and leaves it up to Jacobsen’s fairness to settle the matter.

He encloses a letter from Edmund Heller and an article about Kermit’s trip. He tells Kermit not to do anything foolish about the Mexican trip and that the naturalist Thomas Barbour came for lunch.

President Roosevelt updates Frederick Courteney Selous on the preparations for his Africa trip. He is giving caravan manager R. J. Cunninghame the “power commensurate with his responsibility,” and has directed him to hire support staff. Roosevelt wants to pay his bills before leaving for Africa, and asks Selous to request that they be sent over. He likes the double-barreled Holland rifle, and looks forward to seeing Selous on the steamer at Naples. In a postscript, he wonders if Selous could arrange for pipe tobacco to be sent to Nairobi for Kermit.
