Watson asks if Roosevelt can give John Lewis Griffiths a leave of absence from his position as Consul to Liverpool because Griffiths’ speaking abilities make him helpful on the campaign trail. Watson also notes that Roosevelt’s letter dismissing the issues in the controversy is the “most effective campaign weapon.”
