Theodore Roosevelt’s secretary acknowledges Stanley Washburn’s letter to Roosevelt. Washburn had enclosed an excerpt from the Alliance Weekly in which Roosevelt was quoted as saying he wished the day would come when a Roman Catholic would become President of the United States. Washburn wished to confirm whether Roosevelt had been quoted correctly. The secretary notes that the article was probably referencing a speech Roosevelt made to the Knights of Columbus in Peoria in 1910, and he encloses a copy of the speech so Washburn can see exactly what Roosevelt said.

Ambassador Egan shares with Theodore Roosevelt that Father Daniel E. Hudson, editor of the Ave Maria, is “a most enthusiastic admirer of yours.” He hopes to see Archbishops John J. Keane and John Lancaster Spalding on his upcoming trip. Following this, he wants to meet with Roosevelt and deliver a message from Christian X, Crown Prince of Denmark.

James Mahoney encloses a letter and clippings from the Peoria Evening Star and says that lawyers he have spoken to have not been able to get answers. Michael Manning from Glasford, Illinois, has apparently gone to Kansas. Mahoney believes he is being “Round Robined.”
