As promised, Albert Gleaves tells Ambassador Francis about a trip to Fiume [now Rijeka, Croatia]. The trip was “successful in every way,” and Gleaves believes that Francis’s personal letter to Count Alexander von Hoyos was a “great help.”

Charles S. Francis received President Roosevelt’s letter. He fortunately was able to give a letter of introduction to Navy Commander Albert Gleaves to meet Count Alexander von Hoyos. Francis will return to the United States soon, and hopes to see Roosevelt in New York.
