Secretary of Theodore Roosevelt responds to Ralph E. Hulben’s request for a motto for the students at Elkhart High School might use. Roosevelt always recommends the same motto when asked and his secretary is sending Hulben the extract from the speech the motto is from.

George LeRoy Brown tells Theodore Roosevelt that the officer he spoke to about his application for the Inspector of the National Guard on Governor Hiram Johnson’s staff will recommend him. However, he advised having a mutual friend write to Johnson on his behalf.

George LeRoy Brown is interested in the vacancy of Inspector of the National Guard on Governor Hiram Johnson’s staff. He would be obliged if Theodore Roosevelt would recommend him for the position. Brown is interested in working with high school cadets and feels he could do “good useful work.”
