President Roosevelt thanks Elizabeth M. F. Rhodes for her letter, and is glad to hear that her daughter Edenia May Rhodes is denying the absurd story that he hit her horse. He would never do such a thing, and finds these sorts of unfounded rumors unworthy of the attention that a public denial brings.
