The 17 foot statue of Theodore Roosevelt stands on its 13 foot pedestal as part of the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial on Theodore Roosevelt Island. The memorial, designed by Eric Gugler, and the statue, sculpted by Paul Manship, make up only part of the tribute to Theodore Roosevelt. The encroaching wildness, which reflects Roosevelt’s dedication to the outdoors, is clearly visible rising behind the statue completing the memorial to Roosevelt.
