President Roosevelt congratulates his son, Theodore Roosevelt, on his grades. He cautions Ted against making a mistake that he personally made when he was at Harvard where he got good grades in the first half of the year, and then did not study for the second half and ended up with low marks because of poor grades in his finals. Frank Witherbee visited Roosevelt recently.

President Roosevelt congratulates his son Kermit on his grades. Roosevelt is sorry for Archie, as he tries very hard, but his grades are not very good. He describes a walk he recently took with Fitzhugh Lee, John McIlhenny, and Cecil Andrew Lyon. Douglas Robinson and Corinne Roosevelt Robinson are currently visiting and having a nice time. They are disappointed that Stewart Douglas Robinson has been expelled from Harvard.

President Roosevelt is very concerned about the letter that Dr. Morgan wrote Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt about his son Ted’s eyes. It seems that Ted has not been wearing his corrective glasses and that now surgery will be necessary. Roosevelt urges his son to take care of his eyes and to wear his glasses and see the doctor. He instructs him to see the doctor at once and then to let his parents know both about his eyes and about how his studies are going.

President Roosevelt thanks William R. Castle for the reassuring letter about his son Ted Roosevelt’s college career. Ted and his father are both chagrined following a letter from Edgar Huidekoper Wells informing them that Ted has been placed on academic probation. Ted intends to place academics and work above everything else next semester.
