Theodore Roosevelt informs Bernard J. Cigrand that he is certain Lambert Van Rooseveld was one of his ancestors and discusses the alternate spellings of his name. Roosevelt also lists Andrew De Veaux of South Carolina as his Huguenot ancestor and the Huguenots Querrau as Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt’s ancestors. Roosevelt thanks Cigrand for offering the Roosevelt coat of arms, but politely refuses it.
