Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to John Appleton Stewart

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to John Appleton Stewart

Theodore Roosevelt expresses concerns over a reception that is being planned for his return to the United States, an event he has not fully committed to attending. He wants the reception to be nonpartisan and does not think it is appropriate for President Taft to attend a reception for a “purely private citizen.” Roosevelt also wants John Appleton Stewart to be cautious in his public statements regarding the potential reception and Roosevelt’s future plans.
