President Walker of the Isthmian Canal Commission informs John R. Hudson that the Commission does not provide transportation for employees who resign or return home for personal reasons. Many employees only last a short time and then want to return home. It would be “unjust” for the government to have to cover these expenses and such generosity would be abused. Hudson resigned on August 3 and will not receive salary or expenses after that date.
